Where have I been?

Oh lord I’ve heard that a lot lately. It seems I can’t go a day without explaining wtf I’ve been doing. WTF? ;) I’ve been so busy. In fact, I’m ashamed I haven’t blogged about it all more.

Here’s the lowdown…

I Got a Job

That’s right. My hard work at eight6 really paid off and I landed a really big gig for myself. I’m “Lead Designer” at Green Options. Not only are the folks I work with extra super cool, but I get to work on something that helps a cause I’m desperately dedicated to: the environment. We just relaunched a the new redesign of mine. So check it out. We’ve still got a ton of features, revised css, and tweaks to implement - but the basic framework is finally out for your consumption. You’ll be seeing all kinds of great blog posts from me regarding the new redesign launch, including wireframes and explanations of our design decisions.

RailsConf

Joyent bought beer. I got to meet the wonderful Kristie Wells. And when I say wonderful, I mean it. This girl is so sweet. Did I ever tell you how much I love Joyent? If Jason (”Soprano”) Hoffman weren’t enough, now they’ve got Kristie on board. I got to meet Jason for the first time. He gave me a hug. It’s like I’ve known him my whole life. I’m gonna call him Uncle J from now on.

Sessions were, um, well, sessions. I was actually slightly disappointed.

Portland was, um, rainy (but nice!).

And Ze Frank was amazing. Seriously and utterly amazing. This was the second time I’ve seen him “present,” and let me tell you, I can now die a happy man. Ze is the world’s funniest and most poignant man alive.

@media San Francisco

On top of getting to meat some great folks, like Erin Caton, Jeremy Keith, Jina Bolton, Dustin Diaz, Dough March, and the wonderful and talented Alisa Schadt, the sessions at @media were awesome.

Jeremy Keith, Tantek, Erin, and Matt and Hannah from last.fm all went out to the bar afterwards - I tagged along and got to buy them drinks.

@media London

That’s right. I went to both @media conferences. London was great - but broke the bank. 1£ == $0.50. Mark Boulton was really awesome and Andy Clarke hit it out of the park. Hannah Donovan and Simon Willison put on a great duo session and were both really amazing. Ah, what a great week that was.

So, I’ve been busy…

But I promise I’ll start blogging again. I’ve got a lot of things up my sleeve for the next coming months. Keep your eyes and ears peeled. It should be a great summer!
