Happy Earth Day

Happy Earth Day. Reduce, reuse, recycle. Save water. Walk more. That’s all.

Checkout this article on biodegradable plastic bags. Why don’t we have bio-degradable candybar wrappers (and more)?

Map of Religion in 90 Seconds

This is one of the coolest things I’ve seen lately; a history of religion in 90 seconds.

Greendimes

We get lots of catalogs at the house. Lots. Probably 10+ a day. And I hate it.

Despite being annoying, it’s a waste of paper. But I’ve found a solution. And it’s cheap.

It’s called Greendimes, and for $3 a month they get you off junk mail lists, plant a tree for you and more.

My guess is most of you feel the same way, so if you are going to signup, use this link (I don’t get a kick-back or anything, it just tracks how many people are helping me help the planet).

geothermal is here

Gladwell posted an interesting story on how his father threw out his furnace in favor of geothermal heating (and cooling).

It’s really interesting to know, that we have, below our very own feet, the power to heat and cool our homes for next to nothing. Yet, we still persist to fight wars and spend money on foreign oil. It’s maddening.

Exxon Mobil, Second Highest Quarterly Profits Ever

Exxon Mobil earned $10.36 billion in the second quarter, the second largest quarterly profit ever recorded by a publicly traded U.S. company.

The earnings figure was 36 percent above the profit it reported a year ago. High oil prices helped boost the company’s revenue by 12 percent to a level just short of a quarterly record. Exxon Mobil’s report comes as many drivers in the U.S. are paying $3 for a gallon of gas.” increasing the likelihood of further political backlash in Washington.
