I saw Björk's guy play this at her show when I saw her in Detroit just a few weeks back. It was really amazing, at her show they had cameras set up to show how the synth operators were using this. It really makes you think what the word interaction means.
For $49.99 plus a free $10 gift card, I purchased a Buffalo WHR-G54s at Best Buy. I curse Best Buy, but this was one of those few times that actually amounted to something.
I took it home, plugged it in, used tftp to transfer the DD-WRT firmware to it and now I’ve got a really versatile Wireless Bridge/Access Point for $39.99. Just check out the feature list.
My favorite bit, is the ability to change the antenna strength and connect via WDS to my other access point.
I just saw a commercial for Disney Mobile. It surprised me quite a bit actually. The features and ease of use that they alluded to seem quite compelling. If their coverage was any good, and I had a family, it might seem like something to look in to - maybe.
It’s really interesting that Disney is starting their own mobile service provider, especially after the huge failure that was/isESPN Mobile. I’m sure they are leasing towers/network infrastructure just like Helio and amp’d mobile. Quite a few mobile service piggybackers are popping up these days.
Will the niche wireless provider be the future for voice and messaging? Will we be seeing a Apple Mobile in the near future?
